Ditton Fields School Mosaic
The Decorated School Research Network.
Researches the relationships between architects, artists and educators through the art which became part of the fabric of school buildings and their immediate environments in the 20th century. They are interested in understanding more about how the art came to be commissioned, how the subject matter was decided, what was its function, its life story and what ideas about education or childhood, if any, were intended to be convey.
Dr.Peter Cunningham of Homerton College contacted recently, he had tracked me down as the author of a mosaic that had been 'saved' from demolition by Councillor Margaret Wright. The mosaic was completed over twenty years ago on the wall of an air raid shelter in the grounds of Ditton Fields School.
It's history and current whereabouts can be found on 'The Decorated School' website.
